Who Gets to Tell the Story? Why Indigenous Artists Belong at the Center of Indigenous Stories
Who Gets to Tell the Story? Why Indigenous Artists Belong at the Center of Indigenous Stories With The Thanksgiving Play director Vickie Ramirez Saturday, October 17 from 1-3 p.m. At Brick City Center for the Arts Does an Indigenous story require an Indigenous cast? Not necessarily, but Indigenous stories benefit from Indigenous artists at the center of the creative process. Vickie Ramirez explores what changes when Indigenous artists shape, direct, and interpret Indigenous stories, and why representation behind the scenes matters as much as representation onstage. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to all. Space is limited. RSVP by Friday, October 16. Join Marion Cultural Alliance for a special annual membership price of $25 while you’re at this event and get a free ticket to The Thanksgiving Play, live on stage October 29 – November 15 at Ocala Civic Theatre. You must be present to take advantage of this offer. The Thanksgiving Play is supported in part by Marion Cultural Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts.
