CALLBACKS: Wednesday, October 21 REHEARSALS: October 23 – December 8 PERFORMANCES: December 9-20 DIRECTOR: Greg Thompson MUSIC DIRECTOR: Justin Davis CHOREOGRAPHER: Debbie McCreight ABOUT THE SHOW: Bah, humbug! Ebenezer Scrooge’s cold and miserly heart has no room for tidings of comfort and joy – until one unforgettable Christmas Eve, when four ghosts appear to him throughout the night. Scrooge is forced to examine his past, present, and future, searching his soul for any chance of hope and redemption. This traditional retelling of Dickens’ cherished Christmas classic illuminates the holidays with warmth, cheer, and favorite songs of the season. ROLES AVAILABLE: A dynamic ensemble of strong actors, singers, and movers is required to bring Dickens’ world to life. Performers ages 9+, from all backgrounds and experience levels, are encouraged to audition. All auditioners must sing and move well, as music and physical storytelling are central to the production. • Ebenezer Scrooge: Male, age 50-60, baritone. A cold-hearted, miserly, and misanthropic old man who despises Christmas and human companionship because of a lifetime of accumulated trauma, emotional deprivation, and a deep-seated fear of poverty. Abandoned as a child, he lost both his loving sister and his fiancée, which led him to replace human connection with a cold, obsessive pursuit of wealth as a defense mechanism. Described as “solitary as an oyster” and “hard and sharp as flint,” he eventually becomes a generous benefactor. • Bob Cratchit: Male, age 40, baritone. A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, especially his youngest son. Works hard to provide for them but is mistreated by his employer, Scrooge. • Frederick Holywell: Male, age 25-35, tenor. Scrooge’s nephew and only living relative. A pleasant young man who believes in the joy of the Christmas spirit. • Jacob Marley: Male, age 40, baritone. Scrooge’s former business partner, who was like Scrooge in life. Returns as a ghost in chains to warn Scrooge of the consequences of his life choices. • Christmas Past: Male or female, age 18+. A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who shows Scrooge the joy, love, and celebration he is missing. • Christmas Present: Male, age 30-40, pop/gospel lyric baritone. An ever-cheerful, sprightly ghost who shows Scrooge the events that led to his present state. • Christmas Yet To Come: Male or female, age 18+. A beautiful yet terrifying wraith, strong and silent while showing Scrooge the consequences of his current path. • Gabriel Grubb: Male, age 30. A cheeky gravedigger with a quirky sense of humor. He enjoys his job, though it is bleak. Seems connected to the supernatural world. • Mrs. Cratchit: Female, age 35, mezzo. Bob Cratchit’s wife. Mother to Martha, Belinda, Peter, and Tiny Tim. A loving mother who tries to provide the best for her children with what she has. • Martha Cratchit: Female, age 17, soprano. The eldest Cratchit child. A hardworking, caring, and loving young woman in her late teens who apprentices with a milliner. • Peter Cratchit: Male, age 15, tenor. Martha Cratchit’s eldest brother. He is hardworking, spirited, loving, and dutiful toward his family. • Belinda Cratchit: Female, age 11, alto. The youngest Cratchit daughter, she is cheerful, energetic, and slightly rebellious. A hardworking, opinionated girl. • Tiny Tim Cratchit: Male, age 7, alto/tenor. The youngest Cratchit child, he is a frail, disabled boy who symbolizes innocent suffering and moral virtue.
